Drawing is a symbolic action, collapsing a concept of the ideal world into matter.
Having a passion for all that relates to humanity, I have always been triggered by human faces because they represent the most powerful symbol of the human journey. They tell our unique story and all stories from the past, stories of men and women, that we all share and “make” us and our cultures.
“A face” is “a way” to stay in the world.
This is the reason I love, among other subjects, to draw portraits. It is my personal research about the hidden sparkle of mystery we all carry as human beings. I love to feel the different gradations of the soul, without asking with words a direct question: ‘Who are you?’, and get close to that core, and never touch it.
